Setting up Okta Express Configuration for single sign-on (SSO)


If your organization leverages Okta, you can use it to enable single sign-on (SSO) to the Agent platform. In this article, we'll walk through Okta's Express Configuration process, which is required to get SSO with YipitData up and running.

Important: In addition to being an organization admin, you'll need to be an Okta admin to accomplish the following steps. If you lack proper access to Okta, we recommend reaching out to your IT team.

Supported features

Service Provider (SP)-initiated authentication (SSO) flow – Users initiate login directly via the Agent Platform application and are redirected to Okta for authentication.

How to enable SSO via Okta Express Configuration

Okta's Express Configuration consists of the following steps:

  1. Add the instance "YipitData Agent Platform" in your Okta org.
  2. Configure single sign-on (SSO).
  3. Verify the configuration.

1. Add the instance "YipitData Agent" in your Okta org

To add YipitData config in your Okta org:

  1. Log in to Okta.
  2. Select "Admin" in the top-right corner.
  3. Click "Applications," then "Applications" once more.
  4. Select the "Browse App Catalog" button.
  5. Type "YipitData" into the search bar.
  6. Select our app from the available options.
  7. Click "Add Integration."
  8. Within "General settings - Required," add an application label (e.g., YipitData Agent Platform).
  9. (Optional) Select whether to hide the application from users.
  10. Confirm with "Done."

     

Okta will add an instance of our app to your org, after which you will be able to assign it to end users. Click here for Okta's documentation on assigning app integrations to users.

2. Configure single sign-on (SSO)

To configure SSO for the YipitData Agent:

  1. Click the "Authentication" tab within the Agent Platform app instance in your Okta org.
  2. Click "Express Configure SSO" within the "Express Configuration for YipitData Agent Platform" section.
  3. You'll be redirected to the Yipit app login page.
  4. Sign in using your YipitData Agent admin credentials.
  5. Review the "Authorize App" details on the consent page to grant Okta access to the YipitData Agent app.
  6. Click "Accept."
  7. You'll automatically be redirected to your Okta org.
  8. A message will indicate that SSO has successfully been configured.

3. How to log in to the Agent Platform via Okta (SP-initiated SSO)

  1. Visit https://agent.yipitdata.com from your browser.
  2. Enter your email address.
    Hit "Continue."
  3. You will be automatically prompted to authenticate with Okta.
  4. Enter your Okta credentials (email and password).
  5. Proceed to sign in.
  6. If successful, you will be redirected to the application.
